Surface finish: It is a coating that forms an interface between a PCB and a component. This coating prevents oxidation of the exposed copper and provides a solderable surface onto which a component is soldered. The surface finish used in a prototype PCB assembly impacts solderability of components, reworkability and cost of fabrication.
